Status Effects, also commonly known as buffs and debuffs, are special effects than can affect a Servant's or enemy's state or performance in combat.
Buffs are effects that have positive dispositions to Units.

- The following effects are neither buffs nor debuffs (Ignores Debuff Resistance and Debuff Immunity): Heal, Star Gain, NP Gauge Gain, Reduce HP, Star Drain, NP Gauge Drain, Buff Removal, Debuff Removal, Instant-Kill, Command Cards Selection Seal, Trait Addition/Removal, Waiting status (Angra Mainyu), Fragarach Counter, Holding Holy Grail (Sodom's Beast/Draco), and Substitution (Kuonji Alice).
- Some Reduce HP effects don't kill the target. In this case, HP cannot fall below 1 from the effect.
- Generally, the removal order of one buff/debuff starts from the latest buff. Example if the servant receives Jeanne d'Arc's NP buff, then defense up will be removed first.
- Card Performance buffs/debuffs affect Damage, NP Generation, and Star Generation.
- Card Performance Resistance buffs/debuffs do the same and are effectively Card Performance buffs/debuffs for the attacker.
