In Jewish tradition, the people from Adam to Noah are known as "Patriarchs," possessing exceptionally long lifespans, some reaching over 900 years. Hearing a prophecy from God lamenting the corrupt and wicked behavior of humanity, Noah built an ark as instructed, taking with him seven pairs of clean animals and flying birds, one pair of creeping creatures and one pair of unclean creatures, as well as his own family (his wife, three sons, and their wives). The Ark, as its name suggests, was box-shaped, measuring, according to one theory, 135 meters long, 23 meters wide, and 14 meters high. Unable to steer, after being set adrift by the flood, Noah had no choice but to entrust its destination to God. A 40-day storm submerged the land, destroying all living creatures. After 150 days of drifting, the waters finally began to subside, and the Ark came to rest on the summit of Mount Ararat.
