歌舞伎踊りの始祖とも伝えられ、その踊りが様々な変化を遂げ、現在の歌舞伎へと連なったとされる。
出雲の巫女と言われ、諸国を巡り踊りを披露した。
その目的は出雲大社の勧進のためとも言われているが定かではない。阿国の歌舞伎踊りは大変な評判となり、世の人々を魅了する事となった。
しかし、やがて阿国の歌舞伎踊りは風紀を乱すとして
時の権力者に疎まれ、
何処へともなく旅立っていったと伝わる。

A performer during Japan's Azuchi-Momoyama period (1573 - 1603 AD), she is said to be the progenitor of "kabuki-odori" dances, which evolved over the years to become kabuki as we know it today.
She was called the shrine maiden of Izumo, and traveled and performed all across the nation. Her dances were said to promote Izumo Taisha, one of Japan's prominent Shinto shrines, but the truth is shrouded in mystery...
Okuni's kabuki-odori was extremely popular, enthralling audiences everywhere. However, it later came to be regarded by the people in power as immoral and was therefore shunned. It is said that, following this, she set off on a long journey to nowhere in particular.
An entertainer from the Azuchi-Momoyama period.
She is said to be the progenitor of early Kabuki dances, which, after many changes to the dance styles, has become the Kabuki of the present day.
She is said to be the shrine maiden of Izumo, and travelled through various provinces, performing her dances as she went.
It is said that the purpose behind this was to promote the Izumo-taisha, but that is uncertain. What is definite is that Okuni's early Kabuki dances were extremely popular, and mesmerised people across the world.
However, the authorities of the time eventually decided that her dances disrupted public morals, and it is said that she departed for nowhere.

とにかく新しき事や物が好きで、召喚されるやいなや当代の風習や言葉などをあれもこれもと取り込み己の芸として昇華してしまう。時代にそぐわない舶来語交じりの独特な口調もそのせいである。
伝承では名古屋山三郎という夫とともに諸国を巡り、
阿国歌舞伎を披露したとされるが、阿国が引き連れているのは斬ザブローと呼ばれる謎の絡繰り武者。
「ははあ、さては阿国さんの逸話、ちょっとずれてお伝わりのようですね」

Okuni has always loved learning new things, and is therefore quick to incorporate the customs and speech patterns of the time she has been summoned to into her show. This is why she talks in a way one may not expect of someone from 16th century Japan.
Legends say she traveled Japan with her husband, Nagoya Sansaburo, making her living by performing her famed Okuni Kabuki. However, there is nothing in her legend that explains her current companion, a mysterious samurai puppet named Zanzaburo.
"Aha, is that so? I guess my legends must have gotten some of the details wrong."
At any rate, she loves new things, and the moment she is summoned, she will take in all the customs and phrases of the present day, and sublimate them as art of her own making.
That is also the cause of her peculiar manner of speaking, which includes foreign words unsuited to her home era.
According to legend, she travelled to various regions with her husband, Nagoya Sansaburō, demonstrating her Okuni Kabuki to the masses, but Okuni is now accompanied by a mysterious mechanical warrior named Zanzaburō.
"Well, seems like your little story about Mr. Okuni's a little behind the times."

さてさて、ここまでは誰もがご存じ、出雲阿国でございます。ですが、ここからが肝心要の阿国さんのトップシークレット。
そう、諸国を巡るエクセレントな歌舞伎踊りの巫女とは仮の姿。しかしてその実態は、封印の巫女として、世にはびこる魔を封じ滅する、
―――妖(あやかし)ハンター、出雲阿国!
いえ、歌舞伎にももちろん全力で取り組んでおりますが、いわゆる二足の草鞋という奴でございますかね。
引き連れている絡繰り武者は嘘か実か出雲に古くから伝わるいにしえの神器であり、阿国は独自の改造を施し専用の魔術礼装として使用している。斬ザブローと名付けてはいるが元々は古き神の残骸であるとかなんとか。

Okay, so far, everything you've heard about me is what everyone knows about me. But now, we're about to get into my toppest of top secrets.
The truth is, as famous and excellent at kabuki as I am, my job as an entertainer is only a front. My real work is that of a sealing shrine maiden—a hunter of monsters who travels around the world sealing and destroying evil!
I mean, that's not to say I don't give kabuki my all too, because I certainly do. Suffice it to say, I wear two figurative hats, and I wear them both equally well.
As for my samurai puppet companion, he's actually the vessel for an ancient god of Izumo. But I made lots of modifications to him over the years, and now, he's basically a Mystic Code custom-made just for me. I call him Zanzaburo, but he was originally something like the husk for an old god.
Well well, now you're all quite acquainted with Izumo no Okuni, right? But you've yet to learn the critical top-secret fact about Okuni.
Indeed, the shrine maiden who performs excellent Kabuki dances across the country is a temporary figure. In truth, she is a Priestess of Sealing, who seals and destroys the demons who thrive in this world.

Of course, she puts in all her strength in Kabuki too, but she puts on two different hats all the same.
The mechanical warrior who accompanies her is, in truth, a sacred treasure passed down in Izumo since ancient times, though Okuni has made her own modifications when remodelling him as a Mystic Code for her personal use.
Although she calls him Zanzaburō, he was originally the wreckage of an ancient god.

封印の巫女に伝わる戦闘術。身の丈にも匹敵する大太刀を自在に操り、数多の魔を斬り伏せる。
○人形神楽:A
魔力を込めた絡繰りを踊りで操作する阿国の特異な魔術。優雅にして豪壮なその神楽舞は専用の魔術礼装である斬ザブローとの強力なコンビネーションを発揮する。
○封印の巫女:B+
魔を封じるための魔術儀式を行使するために、特殊な修練を積んだ巫女。誰しもが会得できるわけではなく、生来の素養によるところも大きい。過酷なその修練は、幼少期より行われ、修練途中に命を落とす事も稀ではなかった。
斬ザブローと呼ばれる絡繰り武者であるが、元となる素体は出雲に封ぜられていた古き神の亡骸であった。
阿国が勝手に持ち出し、自分の専用礼装に作り替えてしまったため、その本来の力は失われたと思われている。
絡繰りとはいえどうやら意思のようなものも感じられ、己の意志で阿国を守護しているような節もある。

Combat Dance: B
A type of martial art passed down among sealing shrine maidens. Enables Okuni to freely wield a blade that's as long as she is tall, cutting down swathes of monsters and demons with ease.
Puppet Kagura: A
Okuni uses a unique form of magecraft to control a puppet infused with magical energy by dancing. Enables her to perform powerful combinations with Zanzaburo, her personal Mystic Code, with her graceful, magnificent kabuki.
Sealing Shrine Maiden: B+
As a shrine maiden of Izumo, Okuni has been trained in the use of evil-sealing magecraft. Not everyone who undergoes such training can learn these skills, as natural aptitude plays a large part in their acquisition. Prospective shrine maidens are put through an intense training regimen starting at a young age, with many of them not surviving to adulthood.
The samurai puppet Okuni calls Zanzaburo used to be no more than the husk of an ancient god that had long been sealed away in Izumo. It is believed that its original power was lost after Okuni essentially stole it and reworked it into a custom-made Mystic Code. However, despite being a puppet, it also appears to have a will of its own, and has even protected Okuni of its own volition.

By manipulating a puppet with an Odachi almost as long as she is tall, she is able to behead countless demons.
○Puppet Kagura: A
A unique magecraft of Okuni's invention, where she loads magical energy into her machine and controls him. The magnificent and elegant Kagura dancing demonstrates a powerful combination with her personal Mystic Code, Zanzaburō.
○Priestess of Sealing: B+
In order to seal demons with magecraft rituals, this shrine maiden has undergone special training.
Not just anyone can achieve mastery of these techniques, and one's inborn traits are important. The training is so cruel that it begins in early childhood, and it is not rare for people to lose their lives during this training.
The mechanical warrior who follows her, Zanzaburō, was originally the corpse of an ancient god who was sealed away inside Izumo.
It is thought that, when Okuni remodelled him into her personal Mystic Code, he lost his original power. Even though he is just a puppet, he appears to protect Okuni of his own volition, with a will of his own.

Raging god kabuki of Izumo.
The showstopper number in Okuni's demon-exorcising performance. As one would expect, this is the strongest technique out of Okuni's eighteen different programs. Taking her greatsword in one hand, Okuni and Zanzaburo perform their ultimate combination attack in perfect tandem.
A unique Noble Phantasm that reflects how Okuni constantly strives to improve her craft by incorporating new elements, even after being summoned.
While it may seem like this Noble Phantasm's team attack is its primary focus, its true value actually lies in the stage Okuni creates in order to perform the attack. Okuni uses kagura dancing to deftly manipulate the magical energy woven throughout her body by virtue of being a sealing shrine maiden to create a large sealing Bounded Field around the target that can devastate any kind of evil caught in its wake.

出雲でも異端とされた封印の巫女を輩出する里の出身。
里の神職に何処からか攫われてきた少女、それが阿国であった。
親の顔も知らず、使い捨ての封印の巫女として
過酷な修行をかされ、不遇な少女時代を送るものの、
元来の素養ゆえか、歪み曲がるような事もなく、
明るく気丈な性分に育つ。
ある日、友人である巫女が封を解いてしまった悪神により、里は一夜にして滅ぶ。一人残された阿国はかの悪神を追って、諸国を巡る旅に出る事となる。
だがその生涯を通して追い続けた悪神はついに滅す事叶わず。その未練、無念が英霊としての阿国の核となったのであった。
しかし、かの無念はとある一件により、ついに晴らされる事となった。
こうして長い旅路の果てに、ようやく阿国は一人の人間として新しき世界へと旅立つ事が出来るのだろう。

Okuni was raised in a village devoted to producing sealing shrine maidens; one that was shunned and scorned even in its home province of Izumo. She is one of several unfortunate girls who were abducted from who-knows-where by village priests without even knowing what their parents looked like. Those priests treated her and the other girls like disposable, interchangeable pawns, subjecting them to harsh training in order to turn them into sealing shrine maidens. However, perhaps thanks to her natural acumen for sealing, she managed to grow up into a strong, good-natured woman, without any lingering trauma.
One day, a fellow shrine maiden and friend of hers unwittingly undid the seal restraining an evil god, who then went on to kill everyone in her village in a single night. As the sole survivor, Okuni dedicated her life to tracking the god down, and traveled all around Japan in her pursuit. Sadly, she never accomplished her goal during her life, and her regret in failing to do so became a core part of who she is as a Heroic Spirit.
Fortunately, she was given another chance to exorcize the god, and this time, she was successful. Having finally accomplished her lifelong goal, Okuni is free to set off on a new trip around a new world as just another ordinary human.
"I hope you enjoy seeing the outside world through my eyes...
...Ohana."
She was born in a village in Izumo which produces Priestesses of Sealing, even though they are considered heretics.
Okuni is a young girl who was kidnapped and taken to a distant village by a priest.
She did not even know the faces of her parents, and underwent cruel training as a disposable Priestess of Sealing, and even though her childhood was so filled with misfortune, she went unaffected and undistorted by this, and grew up to be a courageous, cheerful person due to her original training.
One day, the entire village was destroyed overnight by an evil god, which one of her shrine maiden friends had unsealed. Now alone, Okuni travelled to many provinces in pursuit of that evil god.
But in the end, that evil god which she chased all her life could not be destroyed. Those regrets became the core of Okuni as a Heroic Spirit.
However, during a certain incident, those regrets were finally washed away.
At the end of her long journey, Okuni will finally be able to begin a journey through a new world, as a human being.
That's right, I want to see the outside world with my own eyes.
