星の内海……アヴァロンから、『選定の杖』と共に地上に遣わされた特別な妖精。
湖水地方に流れ着いた後、鏡の氏族の長の判断でたくさんの宝物と共に舟に乗せられ、ティンタジェルの海岸に辿り着き、以後はティンタジェルの妖精として育てられた。
異聞帯において、汎人類史でいずれ聖剣を担う事になる“誰か”と同一の存在。
『星の脅威』に対する決戦兵器である聖剣を造るため、地上の情報を集める『集積装置』でもある。

The child who is prophesied to save Faerie Britain. She is a special faerie who, along with the Staff of Selection, was dispatched to the surface world by the planet's inner sea, Avalon. After she drifted to the lake region, the chief of the Mirror Clan decided to send her off on a boat loaded with numerous treasures, after which she reached the coast of Tintagel, where she was raised.
In the Lostbelt, she is the counterpart of the girl who would come to wield Excalibur in Proper Human History. She was sent to collect information from the surface in order to forge the Sacred Sword, a powerful weapon against threats to the planet.
Fan Translation:
The Child of Prophecy that shall save the Faerie Kingdom.
A special faerie that was dispatched from the Inner Sea of the Planet, Avalon, to the surface, along with the Staff of Selection.
After drifting into the Lake District, she was placed on a boat along with many treasures by the decision of the Chief of the Mirror Clan, eventually reaching the coast of Tintagel and being raised as a faerie of Tintagel from then on.
In the Lostbelt, she is the same being as the "someone" who was eventually burdened with the Holy Sword in Proper Human History.
Also, she is an "accumulation device" sent to collect information on the surface, in order to produce the Holy Sword - a decisive weapon against the "threat to the planet".

汎人類史のアルトリアは裏表のない性格だったが、異聞帯のアルトリアはあそこまで強くなく、内面はとても弱く、いじけ気質で、悲観主義者。
『予言の子』である自分も、そんなものに期待をよせて自滅する周りの人々もバカみたいだ、と内心では溜息をついている。
（冷め切っている訳でも、バカにしている訳でもない。「はあ……」と、気持ちが重いだけ）

NA Localization:
An innocent, energetic, and ordinary girl who hates to lose, is strong enough to take a hit, values the importance of reading the room, and hides her true feelings from others. She is a practical researcher who spends her days studying magecraft in some truly animated fieldwork.
She is the protagonist of this story who, to meet the expectations of others as the Child of Prophecy, sets off on a journey to save Britain.
...But that is only the face she presents to the world.
Altria of Proper Human History was honest and forthright, but the Lostbelt Altria is not as strong-willed; she is frail, timid, and a pessimist. Internally, she sighs in exasperation at the foolishness of being the Child of Prophecy, as well as at the self-destructive tendency of so many in pinning their hopes on a prophecy. (She's neither dispassionate nor dismissive of their plight. Thinking about it just kind of gets her down.)
Fan Translation:
A splendidly pure and energetic girl.
A sore loser who is strong in face of adversity (she stands up even if something unpleasant happens). She hides her true feelings without telling anyone due to taking the surrounding mood into consideration - just like any ordinary young girl.
Spending her time doing nothing but studying magecraft, she is a practical researcher who runs around the fields just like a young boy.
The protagonist of the story who lives up to the expectations of the surrounding people and departs on a journey to save Britain as the Child of Prophecy.
...that is her outwards personality and disposition.
The Artoria from Proper Human History had an open-ended personality, but the Artoria from the Lostbelt is not that strong. In the inside, she is a pessimist with an extremely frail and timid disposition.
In her heart, she lets out a sigh while thinking that both herself as a "Child of Prophecy" and the surrounding people that self-destruct as they place their expectations on such a thing are foolish.
(It is not like she has burned out or is looking down on them. She is merely feeling heavy.)

しかし周りの空気を気にするアルトリアはそんな内面を打ち明けられず、誰とも言い争いをしたくない、憎み合いたくない、という理由で、
「はいっ、任せてください！」と周りが望むムーブをして取り繕ってしまう。
要領悪くて、失敗が多く、道につまずいてばかりの努力家の一般人。転んだ後、立ち上がるのが早いだけが取り柄。なので、
「弱くてごめんなさい。
がんばります、がんばります」が口癖だった。
そんな時の内心のモノローグは、「戦いは恐いです。憎しみ合うのはしんどいです。普通の暮らしがハッピーです」というもの。
本人はこんな感じで「自分にダメ出し」をしているが、どれほど酷い環境・酷い仕打ちをうけても「悪に落ちず、礼節を忘れず、周りを気遣える」性格がブレない事自体が貴人の証と言える。
オベロンとの決定的な違いはその一点。

Since Altria is always concerned with the feelings of those around her, she is unable to express her own true feelings. She does not want to hate or come into conflict with others, so she tends to just agree to do what is asked of her in whatever way she's expected to behave. She works very hard because the truth is that she is clumsy, makes a lot of mistakes, and is constantly stumbling on her journey. The one thing she is truly good at is getting right back on her feet, which is why she's constantly making apologies for being so weak, and promising to do better. Every time she makes these promises though, she finds herself thinking about how terrifying fighting is, how exhausting hatred is, and how wonderful it would be to just live an ordinary life.
Altria may be her own harshest critic, but no matter how bad the environment around her, or how badly she's treated, it is not in her nature to give in to evil, forget her manners, or stop caring around the people around her. And that is proof of just how truly noble in spirit she is. That very trait was also the crucial difference between herself and Oberon.
Fan Translation:
Still, since she is mindful about the surrounding mood, Artoria does not reveal those inner aspects of herself and instead ends up keeping up with the appearances by saying "ok, leave it to me!" and behaving exactly as the surroundings expect. All because she doesn't want to have a quarrel with anyone and doesn't want to hate anyone.
A hard-working commoner who is bad at the essentials, makes a lot of blunders, and stumbles all over her path. Her only merit is the fact she is quick to get up after a fall.
As such, her stock phrase is "Sorry for being weak. I will work hard, I will work hard."
Her inner monologue at times like these is something like "I'm scared of fighting.
Mutual hate is tiresome. I'm much happier living normally."
Although she is constantly finding faults in herself in this manner, one can say that the very fact that her personality - which worries about the surroundings, without falling to evil nor forgetting about decorum - does not waver, no matter what sort of harsh circumstances or cruel treatment she faces, serves as proof that she is an aristocrat.
The definite difference between her and Oberon is that one point.

巡礼の旅において、
偽の予言の子が『怖いけど、みんなの力になりたくて頑張る』というモチベーションなら、
予言の子は『怖いけど、それ言ったら周りがガッカリするから仕方なく頑張る』というモチベーションだった。
『他人はみんな怖いし社会は気持ち悪いし、世界を救えと言われてもぜんぜんモチベあがらないけど、周りに逆らうのもイヤだから救世主として頑張ろう』
という、とてもマイナスな精神状態を隠していた。
それでも結果的には『他人から見ると尊い行為』『アーサー王と同じ在り方』になるが、アルトリア・キャスターの内面はとても卑屈で、後ろ向きで、ネガティブ。なのでいつも
「今回は頑張れたけど、次こそきっと、わたしは放り出しちゃうだろうなあ……」
と自分にダメ出ししていた。
妖精國がモルガンの思い描いた童話なら、
巡礼の旅はアルトリアの成長を描いた童話。
『オズの魔法使い』の主役のドロシー役に見せて、実はうまく歩けない（足下が見えない、智恵がない）カカシ、心ががらんどうの木こり、勇気を出したくないライオンの三者の集合体のような弱さを持っていた。
そんなアルトリアがなぜ最後まで『予言の子』でいられるのか、何の為に戦っていたのか、その答えが、彼女の物語の終わりとなる。

One might expect a Child of Prophecy on her pilgrimage to do everything she could to help others, even if it's scary. The truth, though, is that the Child of Prophecy set out on her journey to do her best, because she knew people would be disappointed if she was frightened.
She always conceals her deeply negative feelings. "Everyone is scary, society is nauseating. I don't have any motivation to save the world, but I also don't want to go against the people around me, so I'll try to be their savior."
Despite that, her deeds appear noble in others' eyes, seeming a worthy equivalent to King Arthur's way of life. In truth, though, Altria Caster is obsequious, reactionary, and pessimistic. So she constantly criticizes herself, thinking, "I pulled it off this time, but I'm sure they'll sack me the next time around."
If Faerie Britain was a fairy tale envisioned by Morgan, the Pilgrimage would be a tale following Altria's growth and evolution. Her role may be similar to the character Dorothy from "The Wizard of Oz," but in actuality she is a combination of the Scarecrow who cannot walk properly (who does not have his own footing and lacks wisdom), the Tin Woodsman who lacks a heart, and the Cowardly Lion, combined into one. So how did this Altria manage to keep being the Child of Prophecy until the very end, and what was she fighting for? The answer to that question will spell the end of her tale.

During the journey of pilgrimage, while the motivation of the fake Child of Prophecy was "I'm scared, but I'll work hard because I want to help everyone", the motivation of the true Child of Prophecy was "I'm scared, but saying such a thing would make everyone disappointed, so I have no choice but to work hard".
She kept hiding a negative mental state in which "everyone is scary, society is disgusting and I can't keep my motivation up even if you tell me to save the world. But since going against the surroundings is also unpleasant, I'll work hard as a saviour". Although that ended up becoming a noble deed in the eyes of others, "the same way of being as King Arthur", Artoria Caster's inner aspects are awfully abject, pessimistic and negative. As such, she is always finding faults in herself.
"I was able to persevere this time, but most likely, next time, I will probably end up giving up on everything..."
If the Faerie Kingdom is a fairy tale pictured by Morgan, the journey of pilgrimage is a fairy tale describing Artoria's growth.
Despite appearing to fill the same role as Dorothy - the protagonist of "The Wizard of Oz" - she actually possesses a weakness akin to an aggregation of the scarecrow that can't walk properly (can't see his own feet, has no wits), the woodcutter with a hollow heart, and the lion that doesn't want to display courage.
Why was this Artoria able to remain as the Child of Prophecy to the very end? What was she fighting for?
That answer becomes the end of her story.

妖精も人間も等しく『怖い、気持ち悪い』と
感じていたのはこのため。
彼女が眠った時、夢に見るのはこの『悪意の嵐』だけ。本来なら気が触れ、ブリテンを見捨ててもおかしくない状態だが、そんな彼女にとって唯一の希望が、嵐の向こうで一つだけ輝く、青く小さな星だった。

Altria, who was raised as a prophesied savior, is endowed with charisma that caused many people to rely upon her and expect great feats from her during her travels.
Avalon le Fae: A
A power hidden by the name "Protection of the Lake." Faeries from paradise possess the ability to bless life and protect their targets' fate from many forms of corruption.
Sacred Sword Creation: A
A power hidden by the name "Sword of Selection." When this ability truly awakens, everything Altria creates is imbued with a "sword" attribute.
Fae Eyes: A
A form of vision, innate to faeries, which "converts the world." It is different than the Mystic Eyes some humans possess. These are said to be the eyes of greater faeries who can pierce through all falsehoods and reveal the truth. For faeries, who conflate goodwill and malice, it is a rather pointless ability. If a human who puzzles over the distinctions between such things were to possess these eyes, however, it would not lead anywhere good.
Thanks to these eyes, Altria Caster sees the truth behind the lies of all she encounters. As such, she saw the human world as a "storm of malice," and was both frightened and disgusted by faeries and humans alike. While asleep, she dreamt only of the storm of malice. It would have been no surprise had she become so disillusioned that she abandoned her mission to save Britain, but she held on to a single hope: a brilliant blue star she glimpsed beyond the storm.

Because of these eyes, Artoria Caster could see all the lies and true intentions of people.
This is why, as far as she is concerned, the human world is a storm of ill will and both faeries and humans felt equally scary and disgusting.
The only thing she saw in her dreams while sleeping was this storm of ill will.
Originally, it wouldn't be surprising if this condition made her go mad and caused her to forsake Britain. Still, the only thing that served as a source of hope for her was a small, blue star that shined all by itself beyond the storm.

Altria Caster fulfilled her duties in Faerie Britain, then vanished. After offering her body to the Sacred Sword and becoming the sword itself, she became a device whose purpose was to aid humanity in opposing threats to the planet.
Its name: Altria Avalon. The third Ascension is her actual form, while her appearance in the first and second Ascensions represent a life someone once lived... It is a simulacrum of springtime memories belonging to that girl who traveled as a Child of Prophecy, rather than the recorded history of a faerie of paradise.

What we see in the First and Second Ascension is but an emulation of the way of being of a "departed someone", which created her... not the memories as a faerie of paradise, but the memories of spring from when she travelled as a Child of Prophecy.
