The dragon, or perhaps serpent, that lived in the wetlands around Italy’s Milan, and whose shape remains in its coat of arms even now.
It is said to have made humans suffer with its poisonous breath, but was exterminated by a knight that would be the founder of the Visconti family

イタリア・ミラノ地方に伝わる伝承のドラゴン。
沼地に住み、毒を吐き人を喰らう蛇にして竜。
足がなく翼の生えたタイプで、頭には王冠が載っていると伝わる。
人々を困らせていたその竜蛇はヴィスコンティ家の祖にあたる騎士に退治され、のちにヴィスコンティ家が興したミラノ公国の紋章として描かれるようになった。
その名はビショーネとされているが、ギーブルとしている資料もある。ヨーロッパの他の地方で呼ばれるヴィーヴルという竜の同種、呼び名違いであるとも。
なぜか弱点として「男の裸が苦手」と語られており、
服を着ていない男を見ると赤面して逃げ出したという。
ヴィーヴルは雌しかいないとされ、そもそもが半竜半人の種族として描かれる場合もある。
一説によればその眼球は赤い宝石そのものだという。

A dragon of folklore talked about in the Italian region of Milan.
A serpent and dragon that lived in the wetland, breathed poison and ate humans.
It was the type that didn’t have limbs but grew wings, and a crown was said to rest on its head.
That dragon-serpent that troubled the people was exterminated by the knight that would become the founder of the Visconti family, and after that was depicted as part of the coat of arms of the Duchy of Milan, developed by the Visconti family.
Its name is Biscione, but there are also data where it’s Guivre. It seems to be the same species of dragon called Vouivre in other European regions, and might have been misnamed.
For some reason, her weakness is said to be “weak against naked men”,
and when she sees men wearing no clothes her face turns red and she runs away.
Vouivres are only females, and there are cases where they’re depicted as a race of half-dragons, half-humans.
According to one theory, her eyeballs are red jewels. |

おどおどしてあまり自信のない感じ。
言語化はできていないが、自分が「やられ役」であることに漠然とした不安、無力感を抱いている。
それでも最後の最後には前を向けるような芯の強さも持つ。
モチベーション、願いは「安心で安全な、安定した生活」。安心してごはんを食べて、安全に冬眠したい。
そのためには……
安定した職が必要なのでは？
サーヴァントとして現界してしまった彼女は、自分が名だたる竜ではない、何者でもない取るに足らない存在であると思っている。
それでも未来の安心のためには頑張らねばならない。
大きく安定した何かの庇護を受ける、つまり就職して雇用されなくてはならない。
では、自分の売りとは。
何を以て自分の価値をアピールするか。
できなければ（将来的に）死ぬ……はわわ……。
つまるところサーヴァントとしての彼女は、「テンパった就活中の学生」みたいな状態にあるのであった。

Feels fearful and not too confident.
She can’t verbalize it, but harbors vague anxiety and feelings of powerlessness due to being “the one that gets beaten”.
Even so, at the very end she also has the strength of heart to face the front.
Her motivation, her wish is “a safe, secure, and stable living”. She wants to eat lunch safely, and hibernate securely.
To do that…
Wouldn’t she need a stable organization?
Having manifested as a Servant, she thinks of herself as an unrenowned dragon, an insignificant nobody.
Even so, she must work hard for the safety of her future.
She must receive the patronage of something big and stable, in other words, she must obtain an interview and get hired.
Well then, what about her selling points?
What will she do to appeal to her own value?
If she can’t do it she will die (regarding her future)… Hawawa…
To summarize, as a Servant she finds herself in the state of “a job-hunting student at the end of her wits”.

ヴィスコンティ家の祖ウベルティという人物が、人を食う蛇竜をミラノ近郊で退治した結果、ミラノ公国の紋章としてビショーネが描かれるようになったと言われている。
それは自動車メーカーのエンブレムなどにも転じ、結果として最も多くの人間に認知される蛇の意匠の一つとなっている。
その知名度、認知度に基づく存在強度。
それがビショーネという名であることはあまり知られていないかもしれないが……
密やかに、しかし確かに、獲物が住まう場所の近くで息づいているのが蛇というものだ。

○ Serpent from the Coat of Arms: EX
As a result of the founder of the Visconti house, a man named Uberto, exterminated the man-eating dragon-serpent at the outskirts of Milan, Biscione is said to be depicted as the coat of arms of the Duchy of Milan.
That would become the emblem of an automobile maker, and as a result she became one of the snake designs most recognized by people.
Strength of being based on that notoriety and recognition.
The name of Biscione may not be too well-known, but…
Living near the place where their prey dwells, quietly yet certainly, is what snakes do.

「その形」を人々が紋章の意匠としてよく知っているがゆえに、彼女は「そうするものである」と認識されており、その概念的強度がこの宝具の威力・精確性に補正を加えている。

A Noble Phantasm where she takes the form in which she’s the most compatible with her own mana ―――
In other words, the serpent-dragon Biscione that lived in the wetlands near Milan, and bites her enemies.
The name of the Noble Phantasm means “Absence of Visconti”.
A recreation of the free actions from before being exterminated, when the knight of Visconti had yet to come.
The produced mana serpent swiftly strikes its prey like a real snake making its way through the grass, and catches its victims by holding them in its mouth, just like the image in Milan’s coat of arms.
Because “that form” is well known by people as the design of a coat of arms, she acknowledges that “it’s what she does”, and that conceptual strength adds modifiers to this Noble Phantasm’s power and accuracy.

ヨーロッパの数多の伝承における、「お話に登場するドラゴン」という概念、その集合体のようなものとして成立したのが、このサーヴァントのビショーネである。
（ここで言うドラゴンは「物語の登場人物」のような立ち位置の存在であり、魔術世界で定義される幻想種としての竜とは性質などが一致しない可能性がある）
基本的に名のあるドラゴンではなく、伝承には出てくるが個体名がない、やられ役としてのドラゴンたちの想い―――それがミラノのビショーネという同種のドラゴンを中心として集まり、一つの霊基を作ったということ。
なので彼女は表面的にはビショーネとしての形状、生態、好みで活動するが、本質的には「決まった形」や「決まった生態」を持っておらず、無数の可能性を内包している。それがビショーネ自身にも「ふわふわした不安感」のような感覚を覚えさせている。
しかしそれは彼女が「ドラゴンという可能性」「可能性のドラゴン」そのものである証明でもある。
第３再臨は自らが「可能性のドラゴン」であることを
認識し、接続可能な中で最も強大と思えるもの―――
円環の蛇ウロボロスに自らの在り方をシフトさせた姿。
ウロボロスは幻想種としての竜種ではないものの、完全性・永遠性・無限性などを象徴する哲学的存在であり、彼女にとっては最も強大なイメージの対象である。
また、自身が「ドラゴンという幻想」に形作られていることを認識したことで、意識的に他の様々な伝承で語られるドラゴンの要素（エレメント）を起動させ、その姿にシフトしながら戦うことも可能となった。

Something like an assembly of the concept of “the dragon that appears in the story” from many European legends, that’s what this Servant Biscione is.
(The dragons mentioned here are beings with a status similar to “characters from a story”, and it’s possible that their characteristics don’t match those of dragons as in the Phantasmal Species defined by the world of magecraft)
The feelings of the dragons that basically aren’t named, the ones which appear in legends but don’t have individual names, dragons with the role of being beaten ――― They all gathered with the dragon from the same kind, Milan’s Biscione, as the core, and created a single Spirit Origin.
Therefore, she apparently operates with the shape, lifestyle and tastes of Biscione, but she essentially lacks “a definite form” or “a definite lifestyle”, and harbors endless possibilities. Biscione herself feels it as a sense of “unsteadiness and anxiety”.
However, that’s the proof that she is “the potential of a dragon”, “a dragon of possibilities”.
In her 3rd Ascension, she acknowledges that she’s
a “dragon of possibilities”, and shifts her state to what she thinks it’s the strongest of those she can be connected with ―――
the circular snake Ouroboros.
Although Ouroboros isn’t a Dragon Kind as in a Phantasmal Species, it’s a philosophical being that symbolizes perfection, eternity, endlessness and the likes, and it’s the object of the strongest image for her.
Also, by recognizing that she’s composed of “the Phantasms of dragons”, she has consciously activated the components (elements) of many other dragons spoken of in legends, and become capable of fighting while shifting into their forms. |
