He was known to have inflicted damage upon Fujiwara-no-Michinaga, a prominent leader of the times, through a curse. Unlike Abe-no-Seimei, who belonged to the Onmyou Bureau, Ashiya Douman was a priest, and considered to be part of the opposition to the government. Initially Seimei and Douman cooperated with each other, but at some point Douman came to loathe Seimei and the Onmyou Bureau, and they began to disagree on every issue. During the Heian period of Japan, where divinity was rampant, the clash between two of their discipline was surely intense. Additionally, if one were to take the legends about Douman seriously, that would mean Douman must have died numerous times. For this game, it is assumed that Ashiya Douman mastered the secret art of Hakudou Jyonin, and had already attained a type of pseudo-immortality during his lifetime. They're classified not as a hero who protects the people, but as an anti-hero, who unscrupulously harms people, and whose extinction lead society to peace and tranquility. They're said to have harmed the authority of the time, Fujiwara no Michinaga, with their hex. Unlike Abe no Seimei, who belonged to the Bureau of Onmyō, a government organization, Ashiya Dōman was a Buddhist priest, and, in a sense, the person who is out of office power. Their relationship seemed to have been mutually cooperative at first... but at some point, Dōman started seeing Seimei and the Bureau of Onmyō as enemies, and opposed them time and time again. In the Heian Japan, where Mystery remained pronounced, the clashes between the two greatest masters of spells must have been amazing. Also, if were to take the legends at face value, Dōman died several times. This game says that they learned everything about the secret arts of Hakudō Jōnin, having already mastered pseudo-immortality during their lifetime.

Bond 3	アルターエゴ・蘆屋道満は、かつて存在した陰陽師・蘆屋道満とは似て非なる存在である。 アルターエゴとして成立するにあたり、彼は自らの霊基に三体の神霊および怨霊を組み込み、ハイ・サーヴァントと化した。 取り込んだ神霊および悪霊は以下の通り。 一体目、アステカ神話の女神イツパパロトル。 二体目、スラヴ神話の悪神チェルノボーグ。 三体目、平安日本の怨霊「悪霊左府」である。	NA TL Ashiya Douman the Alter Ego is quite different in nature than the Ashiya Douman the Onmyouji priest of the past. In order to establish himself as an Alter Ego, he fused a combination of three Divine Spirits and vengeful spirits, into his Spirit Origin to become a High Servant. The Divine and evil spirits fused into Ashiya Douman were as follows: The first one, Itzpapalotl, a goddess from Aztec mythology. The second one, Chernobog, an evil god from Slavic mythology. And third, a vengeful spirit from Japan's Heian period, known as the "Akuryo Safu." The Ashiya Dōman the Alter Ego is not exactly Ashiya Dōman the onmyōji who once existed. In their formation as an Alter Ego, they implanted 2 Divine Spirits and 1 grudgeful spirit in their own Saint Graph. The Divine Spirits and grudgeful spirit are listed as follows: First, the goddess Ītzpāpālōtl from Aztec mythology. Second, the evil god Chernobog from Slav mythology. Third, the grudgeful spirit Demonic Minister of the Left from Heian Japan.
Bond 4	本作での蘆屋道満は、安倍晴明が守護する「都」や「人々」の明確な敵対者である。 五行に深く触れ、自然（神々）さえも時に操る超越者として振る舞い、小さきもの、儚きもの、日々をつつましく暮らす衆生すべてを嘲笑う。 人の矜持、信念を娯楽のために踏みにじるのを好む。 （なので女武蔵からは蛇蝎の如く嫌われる） クラス・アルターエゴとしての現界であるため、過去に実在した蘆屋道満の人物像そのものではなく、一側面がカリカチュア化した存在になっていると思われる。 が、キャスター・紫式部の語るところでは、過去の道満も相当の妖人・怪人であった模様。	NA TL Ashiya Douman in this game is the clear antagonist of the capital and the people Abe-no-Seimei protects. He also takes pleasure in trampling on human pride and faith (which explains Musashi's intense loathing of the Alter Ego). As he manifested as an Alter Ego class, he is not the persona of the Ashiya Douman who actually existed in the past, but is rather a caricature of the historical figure. However, Murasaki Shikibu's accounts imply that the historical Douman was quite monstrous as well. Fate/Grand Order's Ashiya Dōman is openly antagonistic against the capital and people protected by Abe no Seimei. They portray themselves as a transcendental being, who is deeply experienced in handling the five elements, sometimes even able to manipulate nature (the gods), and ridicules all the small, transient masses who live modest lives. They love trampling the prides and faiths of people for their own amusement. (That's why Girl Musashi despises them like a snake or a scorpion) Due to being manifested in the Alter Ego class, they are considered to be a caricaturized aspect of the existing Ashiya Dōman, not a complete representation of the real figure. But, Caster Murasaki Shikibu's accounts imply that Dōman from the past was that much inhuman and untrustworthy.

Could this have resulted accidentally from a connection with Chaldea, or could it be Proper Human History simply ignoring the background and motivations of a person, so long as they are powerful, or could this simply have been something Douman planned for? (Though, it's never been proven whether a Heroic Spirit's desires can directly influence their summoning or manifestation.) The Alter Ego Ashiya Dōman summoned to Chaldea behaves as if they doesn't remember a thing about their actions as the alien god's servant, or their multiple confrontations against Chaldea. When asked why they were summoned as an Alter Ego with multiple powers that the living Ashiya Dōman couldn't possibly have, their answer is "I do not have the faintest idea". This is untrue. Obviously. They are, without a doubt, summoned to Chaldea with the records of the Alter Ego Limbo who fought against Chaldea, the Dōman who attempted to shine as a dark sun. Why did it come to this? Due to an unexpected consequence of them tying their fate to Chaldea? The choice of the Pan-Human History, who takes power without questioning where it comes from? Or perhaps due to Alter Ego Ashiya Dōman wishing for it to happen? (Note: there's nothing confirming that the Heroic Spirit's wills have any influence on them being summoned or manifested)

• In order to unlock Ashiya Dōman's 3rd and final Saint Graph, you need to reach 3rd Ascension, and then clear the "Saint Graph Unlock Quest".
  • This makes them the first Servant with their 3rd and final Saint Graph blocked behind an Interlude.
  • Before 16 August 2021 Update, you needed to reach final Ascension to unlock the quest.
• They share the exact ATK values at both minimum and maximum with Ishtar.
• Their NP's overcharge value was reported as bug on 7 December 2020 Announcement, where the value was missing one 0 in the integers and the value ended up being only a tenth of what it should be.
  • This issue was fixed on 8 December 2020 Update.
