He can certainly make Boss fights easier if you're using Buster servants. Not to mention the immortal comps he enables with Morgan+Castoria and Himiko+Castoria teams.

Lady Avalon mostly does the same for Arts, so I'd say getting one of them is certainly worth it. I have her, and I like using my Arts servants more, so I never really bothered rolling for Merlin.

If there are no other servants you want this year, sure, give it a shot.

Lady Avalon only "heals" your party during the turn that you use the Winds of Avalon.

It does not protect your party's HP when you're using all 3 Command Card moves to attack. (＞﹏＜)

@Stray Bird Lady Avalon only gives Maximum HP to allied Servants, it does not give health recovery.

I'm just going to focus on Castoria, to get and test it together with Knocknarea because before yesterday I was supposed to test Knocknarea against Beast III/L, but I decided to get Castoria first.

And the reason why instead of testing Knocknarea I decided to test Passionlip, is because of the 2nd Skill that contains My Fair Solider as a debuff, which prevents Servants from activating skills, Castoria is the only one that is not affected which also includes Castoria Summer.

Definitely not. Merlin is almost always useless for farming, and if you have those other supports you can just borrow him if you need him in a CQ. I'm in a similar situation. Have all the farming supports but neither Merlin nor Lady Avalon and have never come close to feeling the need to roll for either so save for Melusine like you want to. And to clarify, max HP up is better than healing. It does heal you as well as increase max HP and it's better because if you're at full health you can still take advantage of the heal.

Until the max HP up gone. After that, your HP returns to normal.

A Merlin or LA can provide reliable NP income, and that's especially useful when pairing with Castoria. If that is the use you are planning to do, you only need one from Merlin/LA.

However, if you are looking for a Buster supporter, Merlin is also one of the top Buster supporters, that makes him useful in stages like the Ordeal Call lamp-hunting.

Need is a strong word. I still think he is great since he provides heals per turn and buster support.

As the others said, he is nice to have but you can always borrow. How about testing him out from supports and see how you like him? That's what i would do if i was unsure.
