Yes, it's expected. Especially for ST servants because most are only going to see use in story battles, CQ and the occasional irregular node. The best thing you can do is come up with unorthodox multicore setups to use them in as part of your daily farming. Just as an example, I included Rama in my Hawaii bleached earth comp even though he's someone I'd typically never use and consider to be among the worst gold Sabers in the game. Lately I always try to slot servants into my comps who I want to raise the bond on, and once they're at bond 8 or 9 I swap them out (it's usually SRs and my bond priority is to get the coins for one append).

For your servants, you could easily do standard farming against class advantage with Charlie, Altria, Karna, Aesc, Anastasia, Raikou, Johanna, Nito Alter, Scheherazade, and Sen. Lartoria and Arthur are very underwhelming for farming in NA currently. Musashi, Ozzy, and Sanzang could be fit into anything with a single enemy wave. Osakabehime is a rare example of a good CQ Quick support. Summer Abby is great for max damage fun runs, raids, and can be used for farming especially if you get Summer Kuro, but otherwise her damage is pretty bad outside of Van Gogh teams.

Outside of farming, which is a limit you impose to yourself (I switch around depending if my servants are max bond level for example, or I just want to use a servant if I can), challenge quests / boss fights and 90++ nodes are like puzzles.

Some servants are more universal then others, but each has their niche which can prove useful for said fight. Granted, borrowing one tends to work for CQs, but depending on the limitation, it's nice to have your own pieces.

Tends to happen when there is overlap between roles. Particularly in my case with AoE Sabers and Lancers. I have a few too many, so no one really stands out over SAlter and uh... Nezha.

It does also come down to simply being too cost prohibitive as well.

Even though I often prefer to use the SR variant, I try to at least experiment with various SSRs as I get them. Pull them out if there is some use for them, or I want to team build a little.

Yeah, SRs kinda shine in the 90++ content due to the cost. I do have a powerful Sanzang, but ended up using Circe because the cost only allowed her.

Wary, you gotta let Douman out. Horny as he might be, his AoE IK on NP and any CE turn 1 NP with A2 makes him perfect for high HP bronze (and even some silver) mobs.
